Kidding Around Week!
The week of February 20-23rd was quite the week here at school as we were repetitively interrupted by baby kids being born during class time. The kids were so upset to have to leave their work and run to watch and assist in the birth of 6 new kids that were born that Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
This is Ollie, our classroom kitty showing off her shaved belly a few weeks after being spayed. We figure we don't need any kittens with all the kids (both human and goat) running around!
"Life on the Farm"
Our students enjoy hands-on learning with many different kinds of animals, ranging from ducks and chickens to goats. Students have been able to participate in the birthing process of little kids (goats), bottle feed a pair of orphaned kids, as well as learning how to milk our milking does. Learning about proper sanitation, as well as making goat soap will follow this spring. This is all part of the learning process here.
